I am a French Canadian watermedia artist living in Mechanicsville Virginia. My home studio is a sacred place where I go whenever I feel the urge to express myself artistically, As a young child I found great delight in creating fantasy beings with colored pencils and my dream was to become an artist someday. My favorite activity was to get together with my cousin, set up still-life scenes in my basement and draw for hours. After graduating from art college in Quebec City in the 70's, I worked as an Interior Designer throughout the Province until I met my husband, Michael, and moved to the United States. Living in Northern Virginia in the 80's, I worked as a commercial artist in the Washington metropolitan area while raising our two children. To further my artistic abilities, I took classes in watercolor painting, participated in workshops with leaders in the field, and joined several groups to interact with other artists focused on developing their talent. I am a member of the Metropolitan Richmond Artists Association, the Bon Air Artists Association and a signature member of the Virginia Watercolor Society. Currently I show my work at The Uptown Gallery in Richmond and in numerous exhibitions around town sponsored by the art associations to which I belong, and participate in many outdoor art shows throughout the state. ARTIST STATEMENT “Imaginary work is what brings the most joy and satisfaction in my artistic life. I find endless inspiration in the mingling of colors on the selected painting surface allowing the creative process to guide my imagination. Blending the mysterious world of the unconscious with the grace and beauty of the natural world, I let the emerging shapes transform into angels, fantasy being, and abstract expressions in the hope that the viewer will be touched and inspired.” |
